"Ilmander" is a taken name, but ancestors can be traced back to ca 1100 AC in several family branches. The roots are mainly Swedish, but origins are also from Mecklenburg, Germany, The Netherlands and Norway. Family ancestors have been prominent in politics and the army, and has such fought in most wars in Swedish history and participated in the battles of: Wallhof, Breitenfeld, Lützen, Wittstock, Kristianstad, Narva, Poltava, Vilna and many others. Due to the many wars the noble spear side of the family was likely closed 1729.
